New Release Round-Up 10-02-15
EDITORS - In Dream - PIAS America
Since their 2005 breakthrough album, The Back Room, UK alternative rock icons Editors have become synonymous with dark, brooding experimental indie-rock songs that have often drawn comparisons to their American counterparts such as The National and Interpol and European heritage acts like Echo & The Bunnymen and U2. While these comparisons fairly reflect the genepool that gave rise to these enigmatic Brits, it doesn’t accurately describe the originality and range in singer Tom Smith’s voice, or the dark, cinematic elegance in the band’s musical compositions.
EAGLES OF DEATH METAL - Zipper Down - T-Boy Records
EODM (Eagles Of Death Metal) aka Jesse Hughes ('Boots Electric') and Joshua Homme ('Baby Duck'), are back with their first new album in seven years, Zipper Down! Available now, Zipper Down features 11 tracks, including the hot lead single, "Complexity." Recorded at Pink Duck Studios in Burbank, California, Hughes and Homme co-wrote all of the album's songs (with the exception of their cover of Duran Duran's "Save A Prayer"), and performed all of the instruments and vocals themselves. The album is produced by Homme.
BLITZEN TRAPPER - All Across This Land - Side One Dummy
Even while continuing to explore broad stylistic territory, Blitzen Trapper’s eighth studio album, a 10-song collection titled All Across This Land, stands as an exceptionally focused and immediate effort. Though it follows 2013’s somewhat experimental VII, a futuristic hip-hop/country-rock hybrid, All Across This Land, in contrast, is a top-down, tightly defined piece of classic rock and roll, full of big riffs, bigger hooks and compelling, instantly relatable lyrics.
QUEENSRYCHE - Condition Human - Century Media
Against the formidable obstacles of an ever-changing cultural landscape, the rise and fall of various musical trends, and the near collapse of the record industry itself, Queensryche secured a triumphant legacy as one of hard rock’s most respected and celebrated acts, selling 30 million albums around the world across a 30-plus year career. The band’s name is uttered in the same breath as many of the groups they looked to as influences and others who arose as peers. Queensryche built a dedicated legion of fans traveling the globe on tour with fellow rock giants like Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Judas Priest, and Def Leppard.
JOE BONAMASSA - Live At Radio City Music Hall [CD/Blu-Ray Combo] - J&R Adventures
In January 2015, Joe Bonamassa took the iconic Great Stage at Radio City Music Hall for the first time for a sold-out, two-night run that allowed him to fulfill his lifelong dream of performing in one of the world's most legendary venues. Bonamassa shares this experience with fans and music lovers around the world with the release of Joe Bonamassa - Live At Radio City Music Hall (J&R Adventures) as a CD/DVD set and CD/Blu-ray set. It will also air this fall on the Palladia HD TV network.
THE SHEEPDOGS - Future Nostalgia - Dine Alone Records
Trends come and go, styles fall in and out of fashion, but The Sheepdogs remain steadfast in their commitment to rock 'n’ roll excellence. Since their inception, the band has always sought to play the kind of music they themselves love: “Pure, simple, good-time music,” as singer/guitarist Ewan Currie puts it. It’s no surprise, then, that the band’s fifth LP, Future Nostalgia, is firmly rooted in the rock tradition that listeners have come to expect from the boys.
BOY & BEAR - Limit Of Love - Nettwerk Records
One of USA Today’s ‘Five Australian Bands You Need To Know,” Boy & Bear will release their third studio album Limit Of Love, produced by Ethan Johns (Kings Of Leon, Ryan Adams). The album, including all lead vocals, was recorded and mixed live resulting in an amazingly fresh and unique sound. Limit of Love follows acclaimed Harlequin Dream, a Gold album after a #1 debut in Australia.
TOBY KEITH - 35 Mph Town - Show Dog Nashville
35 Mph Town is the new album from Toby Keith who has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and released 21 albums over his entire career. The album features background vocals from Mica Roberts, Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally and was co-produced by Toby and Bobby Pinson.
